We are pleased to announce the kick-off of our garden project at Bergen County Technical Schools in Paramus, NJ!
My name is Amy Heid, and I am leading this project. Through a generous grant from Shaping NJ, we hope to accomplish these three core pieces of our garden design this year:
- Build a mobile native species garden
- Build a culinary garden on campus
- Place large pots of herbs and edible flowers in the courtyard of the HS
Our hope is that by implementing these three types of garden spaces on our campus, our students will gain a better understanding and respect for the natural world around them. Many important lessons may be tied to these spaces, including ecology, sustainability, nutrition, food security, community, commons, landscape design, and others.
