Shaping NJ is the state’s nutrition, physical activity and obesity program, focusing on environmental and policy change to reduce obesity and chronic disease.
Individuals must have access to recreational facilities and nutritious foods where they live, work, learn and play. Behavioral change efforts are most effective when implemented at multiple levels. New Jersey is encouraging and supporting a multi-layered approach to obesity and chronic disease prevention. In order to do this, we are targeting four settings for implementing environmental and policy change: schools, community, healthcare and worksite.
