Last Saturday the National Park Boro Farm Stand was open, as it is every Saturday. Many families stopped by to purchase fresh fruits and veggies. When a group of school-aged children showed up, they received a special tour of the school garden and were able to pick tomatoes, basil and other recently grown items to increase their health and improve their eating habits. How cool that our students are enjoying the “veggies” of their labor! But even more exciting, seven local families in need were provided with produce to help supplement their food purchases. It is not cheap to eat healthy so to have the garden make such a positive impact– well, this is by far the greatest success of Project Greenway so far!
