Greenwood Ave Farmers Market Brings Culture of Health to Trenton

On July 6th, the Greenwood Ave Farmers Market opened for the fourth week this season to a promising crowd of over 350 customers. Residents that live in the community were joined by folks coming in by train, bus and car from other parts of the city to check out the fresh fruits and vegetables and fresh baked goods available from the vendors.

Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Mercer County, Division of Family and Community Health Sciences, is on hand each week to offer healthy recipe demonstrations to customers, allowing them to sample what is available and the market.

The ShapingNJ Community Pilot grants have made this community market a reality and if the first four weeks are any sign of things to come, this market will become a major part of the area, impacting the lives of the folks who live and work in the area.
