GRAND OPENING JUNE 15
After months of planning, meetings, phone calls and back and forth communications between all parties involved, the grand opening of the Greenwood Ave Farmers Market at the corner of Greenwood Avenue and Hudson Street in Trenton is going to happen!
A recent article in NJ.com noted that the Market is sponsored by the state Department of Health, the Hunterdon and Mercer Chronic Disease Coalition, the NJ Partnership for Healthy Kids-Trenton, the Trenton Healthy Food Network and the Trenton YMCA.
MARKET MANAGER HIRED
The Market has hired Trenton resident Lori Johansson, a Trenton resident, to manage the day to day operations at the Market. Lori’s connections in the city are varied and diverse, from working at Championship Sports Bar and Grill, performing with local band, Molly Rhythm and volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club of Trenton’s Bike Exchange, Lori brings a passion for creating community in the city. Lori also runs a weekly art event at Champions Bar called Art Chill Night and is a member of the HIVE artist community based in Trenton.
HEALTH FOCUS CENTRAL TO MARKET
Weekly events at the Market will include community and senior health screenings, cooking and nutrition education, physical fitness activities and eye and dental screenings. The Trenton Health Team, the Henry J. Austin Health Center and Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Mercer County are just some of the organizations committed to providing health resources to the community surrounding the Market, in addition to the good food offerings from the vendors.
