As Maplewood’s Bike Way continues to develop, let’s take some time to focus on what’s really important about this project: exercise and safety (“Safercise”). Once again the idea is to create a more bike-friendly Dunnell Road segment of Greenway with signage, street markings, and bike racks. As we all know, biking is a great form of exercise for kids and adults alike. This allows for safe play for our children and safe transportation to and from work by our residents including their own recreational activities.
Additionally, this project aims to create safety awareness through many partners including the police and fire departments by markings on the streets, bike registration and free helmets, and bike safety and maintenance education programs.
The Bike Way will connect Memorial Park and Meadowland Park. At the end of the project’s completion, we hope to increase bike usage by 25% along Dunnell Road this summer.
