I am Moving, I am Learning provided participants with skills to promote lifelong learning.

I am Moving, I am Learning program explains “the science of obesity prevention, best practices and demonstrates the importance of the mind, body connection and the relationship between physical fitness and early learning.” The goals of I am Moving, I am Learning include “increasing the quantity of time spent in moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and to improve healthy nutrition choices for children and every day.” Source: I am Moving, I am Learning Program booklet.

Choose My Plate ( guidelines equipped participants with skills to create a healthy plate. Choose My Plate a great resource that offers a variety of Ten Tip guides. Ten Tip guides include:

10 Tips For Choosing Protein – with Protein Foods, Variety is Key.

“Protein food includes both animal (meat, poultry, seafood and eggs), and plant (beans, peas, soy, nuts and seeds) sources”

10 Tips to help adults include physical activity into their lifestyles.

“Being physically active is important to your health. Adults who are physically active are less likely to develop some chronic diseases than adults who are inactive.”

10 Tips to build a healthy meal.

“A healthy meal starts with more vegetables and fruits and smaller portions of protein and grains.”

Participants tracked their blood pressure, waist circumference and weight.

Participants were required to create their own healthy plate and fitness plan for an opportunity to win a Ninja Blender or Nutri-Bullet.

During the 4 week program participants created a personalized fitness plan for the summer.
