Our Cooperative Garden Coordinating Committee was finally able to get to the garden site and it has grass not snow! We’ve been working on administrative tasks such as a Memorandum of Agreement and reaching out to volunteers. The fence and shed will be installed within the next few weeks. We are getting very excited about designing the garden and picking out the items to be planted. We’ve got lots of information from the Community Gardening Conference that was recently held at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum. Our fellow gardeners were very helpful! Our friends at Grow It Green Morristown will be helping us decide what to plant so we can increase our chances of success this first year. Our partners may also make suggestions for items that appeal to their specific population. At our recent meeting we had a great brainstorming session about programs we can hold at the garden, as well as in a nearby conference room in case the weather doesn’t cooperate. Such things as yoga, healthy food recipes and preparation made for an exciting list! We’ve got a great network of partners and other contacts in the community so it is truly a “cooperative” project!
