Trinitas Regional Medical Center, The Gateway Family YMCA, Elizabeth Branch and Wellness Branch all participated in National Walking Day.National Walking Day – April 2, 2014 – The American Heart Association’s National Walking Day was a great way to engage the community to get out and walk!
Trinitas Regional Medical Center started the trend in 2013 to encourage their employees to increase physical activity for worksite wellness as well as to be in support of the American Heart Foundations National Walking Day.
Our Shaping Elizabeth Team thought it was a great way to engage the community, to walk and get active as well as raise awareness in the community about Shaping Elizabeth. On April 2, 2014, at lunch time, (neither rain nor sleet… you get it) 4 organizations and over 150 staff and community members walked for 30 minutes for heart health. Everyone took pictures and posted on Facebook – The Gateway Family YMCA – Elizabeth Branch and Tweeted using #Shaping Elizabeth – Taking steps at lunch for a Healthy Heart! The event picked up a lot of press including Woodbridge Patch Blog, Suburban News and Elizabeth InsideOut. Attached is a video of an interview that was conducted with Elizabeth InsideOut,
